The Cape May County Facilities Department is responsible for 100+ buildings consisting of more than 1,000,000 sq. ft. The buildings include everything from offices to correctional facilities to nursing homes.

When Cape May County was in the process of being audited by an outside firm, an x-ray machine from the Health Department could not be located.

Solution

Cape May County uses MicroMain Maintenance to track assets and produce work orders for all of their facilities. Cape May County Director of Facilities, Budd Springer says, “The software is a great way to keep records. It shows you what’s been done, how much was spent and also tracks labor and parts.”

With MicroMain Work Request, county employees can go to the Cape May County Website and fill out an online service request. “We depend on our customers because there isn’t enough staff to go around and inspect each facility every day. You can’t fix the things you don’t know are broken,” says Springer.

Results

Thanks to MicroMain Maintenance CMMS software, Cape May County was able to search through all the reports stored in their maintenance database, and find the specific report related to the missing x-ray machine. The report indicated that the x-ray machine had been picked up by someone, per a request. Because of the availability of this report and the information it provided, Cape May County was able to satisfy the auditors and save a significant amount of money.

MicroMain maintenance management software has helped Cape May County not only save time and money, but also provided important information when it was needed most.
