New Parts Inventory Control Available in MicroMain Software

New Wireless Functionality and Improved Features in
Inventory Tool Used with Pocket PCs

(October 24, 2007) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced the release of version 7.1 of its MicroMain™ Inventory tool.

Part of the company’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), MicroMain Inventory enables maintenance technicians to use Pocket PCs to take physical counts and upload the information to the database. The tool can be used wirelessly or synched with a cradle.

Using a Pocket PC with barcode scanning allows MicroMain Inventory users to save even more time. When technicians scan a barcoded part, the part is automatically identified on the Pocket PC. After entering the count, a record is created for updating the inventory levels in the database. Barcode labels can be created—automatically reflecting the control numbers assigned to parts—and printed using the MicroMain™ Maintenance Management CMMS.

With MicroMain Inventory, supervisors can review the counts, track adjustments, and generate variance reports. The tool is used for parts management, as well, including issuing parts to assets and the labor workforce. Parts may also be assigned, added, or removed from work orders as they are checked in and out of parts warehouses.

Expanded barcode symbology options and integration of part control numbers as the source for part barcodes are a few new features in this release, as well as the wireless functionality. When using MicroMain Inventory wirelessly, administrators control data access with managed user log-in accounts.

“Instead of counting parts by hand, having maintenance staff travel back and forth to pick up and drop off parts lists, and manually inputting data, users can now take advantage of MicroMain Inventory with Pocket PCs to streamline inventory counts,” said Joe Brummer, Vice President at MicroMain. “With the electronic transfer of data, users save time and increase accuracy for physical counts.

“Staff like MicroMain Inventory because it’s easy to understand and easy to use,” he added. “Managers like it because they get the reports they need and increased control over their parts inventory operations.”
