New BlackBerry Software for Maintenance Management


MicroMain Mobile for BlackBerry Provides Real-Time Access to Work Orders

(May 13, 2008) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced general availability of new maintenance software for the BlackBerry® wireless handheld. MicroMain™ Mobile for BlackBerry, a tool used with MicroMain’s maintenance management program, enables users to access work orders with this wireless handheld device.

MicroMain for BlackBerry expands MicroMain’s mobile options for its computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Mobile functionality enables managers and maintenance technicians to use handheld devices to receive maintenance tasks and information, indicate work accomplished, and upload status, hours, and additional information to the MicroMain database. All mobile functionality is managed by log-in, which allows administrators to determine security, type of data, and parameters for specific users.

With MicroMain for BlackBerry, users are able to download their assigned work orders or any work orders available to any maintenance technician. This allows technicians to provide services for multiple work requests in the field or plant floor, saving time and improving productivity. For example, when repairing plumbing in an apartment building, office complex, hospital, or school, a technician can check the BlackBerry for any new work requests in that area and immediately provide additional maintenance services.

This software checks for new work orders at user-specified intervals; in addition, automatic download options allow users to save time and effort. Using MicroMain Mobile for BlackBerry also gives users options to create new work orders at the point of work performance.

Managers using MicroMain for BlackBerry can stay informed as to work requests throughout the day or shift. In addition to improving communication, this enables managers to respond immediately to unexpected or emergency situations.
