New Barcoding and Reporting Filters Enhance Tool Tracking for MicroMain Maintenance Software
Tool Tracking Version 7.1 Helps Customers Improve Productivity, Lower Costs
(April 22, 2008) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced the release of MicroMain™ Tool Tracking v7.1, tool management software used with MicroMain’s maintenance management program.
With MicroMain Tool Tracking, maintenance managers have a system for maintaining and storing tool records, assigning or checking out tools, and monitoring return dates and unreturned tools. When assigning tools to contractors, staff, tenants or others, managers can specify return dates and collect deposits on tools—which helps to ensure that tools are returned on time.
The software is also used to print receipts for tools. Customers also take advantage of MicroMain Tool Tracking to re-issue tools to toolholders and create new return dates.
New barcoding options in Version 7.1 allow managers to use unique control numbers for each tool to simplify tracking, particularly in issuing and returning tools. Many organizations print barcodes for their tools using MicroMain Maintenance Management computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). MicroMain Tool Tracking v7.1 also includes a new tool inventory updating feature and enhanced report filtering.
With this software, detailed information—including cost, serial number, model and manufacturer—is immediately available for each tool. Users can also easily create serialized records rather than creating individual records for each tool. For example instead of 50 identical chainsaws, customers can create a single chainsaw record and check the “serialized” box to create a quantity of 50.
“Improved tool availability increases productivity, since time is not wasted looking for tools needed for maintenance tasks,” said Pat Conroy, President of MicroMain. “Our customers also save money by utilizing available tools instead of replacing lost or missing tools.
“Tool tracking is important functionality for many of our customers,” he added. “Our goal is to give customers options for specific functionality suited to specific industry or organizational needs. Tool Tracking is one of the many ways we are meeting that goal.
