MicroMain Tool Tracking
Save money, increase accountability with tool tracking
Instead of spending money replacing lost or missing tools, wasting time looking for tools, or trying to track down who last used a tool, use MicroMain™ Tool Tracking to improve tool availability and increase productivity. With Tool Tracking, you’ll know exactly who has which tools—increasing accurate record-keeping and reducing costs.
Easily Track Tools
With MicroMain Tool Tracking you can:
• Record detailed information about each tool
• Maintain individual tool inventories
• Issue tools to specific places
• Assign tools to specific assets
• Issue tools to specific people
• Track tools using barcodes
With Tool Tracking, you have a system for maintaining and storing tool records. Detailed information—including cost, serial number, model and manufacturer of each tool—is immediately available to you. With MicroMain software, you can also easily create serialized records rather than creating individual records for each tool; for example instead of 50 identical screwdrivers, you can create a single screwdriver record and check the “serialized” box to create a quantity of 50. Identifying numbers will need to be entered only when you issue or replace the tool.
It’s easy to maintain your tool inventory. Not only can you create new tools for inventory, you can also destroy tools and record lost tools. When you maintain individual tool inventories, the transactions are automatically recorded in a log.
To best track tools, you can issue tools to specific places such as facilities, properties, or other locations. It may make sense to issue tools to specific people, as well, such as contractors or staff. You can also assign tools to specific assets, such as equipment, rooms, or vehicles.
You can also use barcodes to increase accuracy and save time in issuing and returning tools. If you wish, you may print barcodes for your parts using the software. Unique control numbers (barcodes) for each tool help simplify tracking.
Increase Accountability With Tool Tracking, you track not only tools but also toolholders, which automatically increases accountability for tool usage. You’ll always know:
• Who has been issued which tool
• Who last had which tool
• When tools are due to be returned
• Which tools have not been returned
When you assign tools to contractors, staff, tenants, or others, you can specify return dates and collect deposits on tools—which helps to ensure that tools are returned on time. It’s also easy to print receipts for tools. You can also use the software to re-issue tools to toolholders and create new return dates.
While these measures help to increase accountability, some tools may still be lost. With the careful toolholders tracking and record-keeping, though, you can also charge appropriate persons for replacement tools, as needed. Use the software to enter any lost/found tools, as well.
Automatically Log Transactions
Every time a tool is created, issued, destroyed, or lost/found, a transaction record is created in the database and stored in a log.
The log stores the tool’s ID , which is assigned as each transaction occurs. You’ll also find the date of the transaction, tool quantity, name of the toolholder, and any depost/fee noted in the log. If the tool has a recorded serial number or control number (barcode), that’s displayed, as well.
Improve Tool Management
In addition to accurate records and transactions, you can use this software to improve your tool management through reports. Detailed reports and summary reports are available regarding tools, toolholders, assets, and tool-related work order reports. You can use date selections and report filters to create the precise report you need.
In addition to reports, you can use the tool tracking software for work-order related tool management:
• Issuing parts to assets
• Issuing parts to labor
• Assigning, adding, or removing parts used for work orders as they are checked in and out of your parts warehouse
• Removing parts from assets and labor
See the Benefits
With MicroMain Tool Tracking, you’ll see the benefits right away in improved tracking of all tools and toolholders. Increase accountability, decrease lost time looking for tools, and save money by maintaining and not replacing tools.
